Magic follows its own rules.
Which means that spells and supernatural abilities always work. They happen as if fate is on your side and everything you attempt is reinforced with godly favour. However, there may be a cost to be paid. In the end, you always need to ask yourself: “Is it wise to use magic in this situation?”. Or, if you’re rather the opportunistic kind: “Is taking the easy way worth the risk of exhausting my powers?”.
During the creation of a magical Character, you explain the origin of your powers. This choice should have a noticeable influence on the narrative, especially on the way your powers manifest themselves in the world. It also limits what you can do. Ask yourself:
Are your magical powers arcane and summoned by meticulous spellcasting?
As a wizard or sorceress that thrives on knowledge, you are most likely fond of casting spells and use your magical education to make a specific kind of magic happen.
Or are they natural, residing inside you, as much a part of you as the way you breathe?
As a magical being, your natural self or godly/demonic powers within allow you to call on innate abilities intuitively to influence the world around you.
This is not set in stone, however. Describe your magic as you see fit. But be sure to spend some thought on this and give your description a fantastical twist.
Add these two steps to your Character creation if you want your Character to have magical abilities or some other kind of power. You need to have at least one volition to do magic.
life or death
fire or water
sun or moon
earth or storm
ley lines or natural phenomena
arcane or occult knowledge

She describes that Magena was born with a substantial potential for seeing the future which her mother, who practised the same art, helped her to realize.
Emma now needs to find a source of power in the world that Magena can draw from to expand her potential. She declares that the light of the moon channels her abilities of divination and can also trigger them.*

Magic has no limits. What ever you can think of, can happen. Describe to the GM what your Character wants to do, then she will tell you what the consequences are.
Magic is strange and can have unforeseen consequences. Be prepared to deal with the extraordinary and the abnormal.

This approach is bound to spark problems during play. Work with your GM to respectfully determine what’s best for the story that currently takes place.

Describe What You Want to Happen - Casting a spell or invoking an innate magic talent starts with your description. Think of the origin of your powers and you will know what you can or can’t do. Then describe what magical effect you want to create.
